Firstly, it was great to get a good supply of sweets again. They have been in short supply since Ian Edwards’s last visit in 2025. Thanks, Ian, it was great to have you on board again, and let’s hope the sweets continue.
A good day’s shooting with just one stand that mauled everyone’s figures. The fast high crosser on stand 4 was missed by every squad member on both shifts, though I did see a keen shot on another team destroy 3 and make them look easy.
The top gun position went to Jonathan Skelding. He had once again left his naughty .410 behind and was rewarded with a top score of 78 clays using the 12b pump that replaced it this week. Well shot, Jonathan. Len was runner-up (again), just 4 targets behind. Three shooters hit 69 to compete for the scratch bronze medal. The addition of the handicap score enabled Simon Honeybourne to take the final position. Mr Skelding’s top score also returned the top Handicap position just 5 points above his average.
Runner-up went to Dave Gee, a single target behind, with John Griffiths’s mighty 28g taking handicap Bronze position. I hope John leaves on that fast crosser next week as I fancy my chances of a kill after Wednesday’s practice run.
Ps, with Ian, I called in to see Trevor G after the shoot. He is quite frail now and needs a frame to assist his walking. He seems quite resigned to his condition, which is a shame, as it would be good to get him out at a shoot for a little exercise again.
