After three months enjoying himself in Cornwall, the only thing your commentator really missed was his Wednesday sojourn with his shooting compatriots at the South Worcester shooting ground. After four weeks of improving results, his marksmanship certainly improved, and Len felt that the practice had got him back to breaking his fair share of clays.

This week was the week that the wheels fell off in style. Top scratch gun by a clear mile was Jonathan Skelding, whose 12b semi-auto put in a super 83 ex 100 clays to record a score only 1 target behind his best score of the year. Runner-up was Tony Gray, whose 72 was a clear 11 points behind the winner. Len shot both driven stands miserably. He managed to miss 17 birds from the 20 that he aimed at. Lord knows how, but he still managed third place with 70 kills. Jonathan’s scratch score also took the Handicap top spot by breaking his average by a mighty 10 points. Runner-up, 7 points behind, was Tony Gray, with Kit Taylor taking just a further point behind. A low turnout this week, but with a cool and damp day being forecast, probably to be expected. Looking forward to better things next week.
