Scores for August 5th

Another fine sunny day but with a touch of breeze to keep us all comfortable. The ‘must do better’ on last week’s commentary looks to have been taken seriously, certainly by the afternoon squad. All exceeded their average scores, with Len Sandford narrowly taking the scratch top spot with 76 broken clays. Jonathan Skelding blew the gold medal by one on the last stand after dropping 6 targets. Tough luck, Jonathan, but good runner-up score. Tony Gray took the bronze position, finishing with 72 kills after dropping only 3 clays on the first 3 stands. Handicap top spot was easily won by Alan Bayley, the only morning shooter to break his average. His magnificent 109 beat John Griffiths’s creditable 2nd place average by almost 5 points. It doesn’t happen very often, but Tony Gray and Len shared the Handicap third place with identical scores.
