Another great days shooting even if the results were a bit mixed.

Jonathan Thornton, brandishing a brand new Beretta Semi-Auto put in a commanding performance that suggests his new gun is going to set records when he gets used to it! His top scratch score of 78 made the rest of us look like amateurs, beating Tony Gray, in second place by a mighty 6 targets with Aziz Al Redha a single target farther back to take the scratch Bronze position. Aziz’s score was over 5 points better than his average and was his best this year. It placed him at the top of the Handicap ratings, closely followed, just over one target behind, by Tony Gray. Jonathan Thornton’s top scratch score earned him the 3rd place on the Handicap scale, less than 2 points behind Tony. At this point,

I must mention again Jonathan Skelding’s tiny little pump action .410. Jonathan had extracted it from it’s ‘naughty cupboard’, carried out some rudimentary adjustments and gave it a final chance to redeem itself. Each time he has previously brought this pseudo potato gun along, I have been merciless in my description of both its reliability and performance. Its chastisement and the ‘naughty cupboard’ have clearly left their marks, as this week, it made a serious attempt to show its potential. It performed well and demonstrated that all but one target on the ground (1 high driven on stand 3) could be destroyed despite its tiny calibre. Well shot Jonathan Skelding for teaching that tiny musket some respect and accuracy.
