A mixed bag of results today with a profound difference between the performances of the morning and afternoon squads. The p.m. guys may have returned the better scores but the a.m, team beat them hands down on the real measure of improved performance, ie, the Handicap results.
Everyone beat their average but a couple of the a.m. squad putting in some outstanding performances. Top scratch result of 80 was returned by Steve Honnor who, I believe, only got his gun out this week because he realised the rest of his squad all needed an urgent shooting lesson. Runner up with a score of 72, was Len Sandford who had tried to increase his results by replacing his 3/4 choke with an improved cylinder (1/4) option to absolutely no avail. Simon Honeybourne returned another good score to take scratch third place with 71 broken clays. The Handicap results were all taken by the morning team. Top gun was Alan Bayley, (apologies Alan, for giving you a fresh surname last week) He exceeded his average by almost 15 points. An amazing performance which has rarely been bettered. Super effort Alan. Roy Kitchen was runner up with another blisteringly high score that beat his own average by over 11 points. Well shot Roy, Simon matched his scratch third spot with the same position in the high scoring Handicap results. A super day’s shooting again.
