A dry but windy day and a very mixed set of results.
The average score of the day was a miserly 61, a 12 weeks low with none of the afternoon squad beating their handicap. We thought there were several tricky stands. No 1, No 3, and No 8 tested most of the Pm. team. On the other hand, most of the morning squad retuned better than average scores. Top scratch gun was Geoff Pomroy with, (for him), a modest 77 broken targets. Runner up was Len Sandford with 71 hits, leaving Simon Honeybourne in third place with a score of 63. Handicap scores were dominated by the morning squad with top gun going to Mark Reacord with a 53 that beat his average by almost 8 and a half points. Great shooting Mark. Alan Bailey was runner up, also beating his average, but by a more modest 1.5 points. Roy Kitchen, the only other shooter to beat his average, took third spot.
As an aside, about once a month, a few of the old, (Butlers) Dodgers meet at the Barn Owl pub near J6, (Worc.N), M5, exit, for a breakfast and a natter. Usually a dozen or so of the old squad turn up and the banter is great. I’ll post the date and time of the next one in case anyone wants to brighten up one of their mornings. They are usually held on Friday mornings around 11am with a modest but tasty breakfast and a coffee costing around a tenner.
