A breezy but mainly dry day and once again, an excellent mix of targets meant fun for everyone.
Great to see Aziz Al Redha back in the squad. He has been nursing a serious spinal injury since last year but it seems a set of well placed Stainless nuts and bolts has corrected the situaion. He’s now back and shooting well again.
Top scratch scores of 74 were shared by Len Sandford and Steve Honner with Len relegating Steve to the Silver medal place after the addition of the Handicap scores. Bronze place went to Tony Gray just a single target behind the wining score. Well done Tony. Handicap winner after beating his personal averagen by over 7 points was Roy Kitchen. His 60 breaks broke a depressing cycle of 11 disappointing shoots. A great leap forward Roy but still a long way to go to match the 69 you scored in February so plenty to aim for, (pun intended). Tony Gray took the Handicap runner up position with another fine score that beat his average by almost 5 points comfortably beating Len’s scratch winning score into third place. Looking forward to the next shoot.
‘Big’ Robert’ was given an excellent send off by his familly and friends last week.
The many tributes easily indicated that Robert was a well loved, very generous and an active family man who had ensured the well being and success of his relatives over several generations. The celebrants of Robert’s life included a group of his Wednesday mates and all of his normal shooting squad.
Robert had for many years left his family under no doubts about his great joy and devotion to his Coffin Dodger mates. We were able to discus with Roberts widow and some of their close family why Robert was such a keen and avid supporter of our Butlers group. Put simply, we explained that he was typical of all of us. He enjoyed the camaraderie and social acceptance that virtually defined our group’s existence. He, like every one of us, held a mutual respect for all of his peers in the shooting group. Peers who came from all walks of life but were as one when enjoying their sport together. We had probably 15 minutes of great exchanges that was greatly appreciated by ourselves, Mrs Wilson, and all others involved.
