A damp afternoon again but not wet enough to spoil the shooting. Jonathan Skelding was in no mood for any weather excuses, Once again, and for the third time in four weeks he popped in a score just one target behind his best score this year. He has, however, let the cat out of the bag and revealed that he thinks his newly found shooting prowess is down to a change of ammunution. He is currently shooting 1 oz loads of steel shot which he feels are giving him better and denser patterns. (down to the greater number of lighter pellets being fired at his targets). It cannot be argued as his scores speak for themselves. He took the scratch Gold medal by a massive 9 points from Howard Smith who missed his average by just over 3 targets.
Len Sandford was one target behind in third place. On a day when only two scorers beat their own averages, Jonathan’s score also won him the Handicap top spot. Alan Bayley, a relative novice when considered alongside Jonathan, was the other shooter to beat his average. He recorded 7 points better than his average and less tha two points behind Jonathan on the handicap scale. He excelled himself by beating his own 50% target for the second time this yearr. (66% is your target now Alan) Roy Kitchen took third place on the handicap scale, missing his average by just a fraction of a point.
