A glorious day for a shoot last Wednesday. Spring has sprung I believe.

Dave Salter was on his best form and gave us all a couple of hours of free instruction as to how the ground should be shot. His 82 kills gave him the scratch top spot and beat the runner up, (myself, Len) by a mere 9 targets. Jonathan Skelding took the Bronze position another 4 points behind. For the second week running, John Griffiths and his mighty 28 took the Handicap Gold medal, beating Dave’s excellent result by almost 4 extra targets. I scraped the third spot.

A small squad visited a new (to me) ground just outside Lichfield called Blackbrook Country Sports. They had just 7 stands but 3 traps were presented at each one. They returned scores based upon 80 targets though I would have thought that 84 would have been a more logical set of results. The results indicated a good mix of targets and they appear to have enjoyed the change.

There were many familiar faces at Shane’s new shoot last weekend. He and Dave Jones put on an impressive debut shoot that worked exceedingly well. I shot a round with Malcolm Speer and we both felt it was a great success. Although we didn’t fancy the trek down and then back up the grounds notorious hill, we still shot 10 well thought out stands at the top of the ground with no ‘give away’ birds being involved. Looking forward to his next one when I believe he will have provided a comfortable lift back up from the bottom of the ground. Well done to all of you involved in Shane’s new venture.
