A good selection of targets at Mr Butlers for our Xmas competition shoot with couple of testing stands that certainly sorted the wheat from the chaff.
Two shooters, Bob Warder, and Ian Edwards shared the Scratch top score with 62 broken targets each. Handicap adjustment gave Ian the Gold medal and Bob the Silver. Chris Arthur finished in third place with a score of 59. Handicap top spot was won by Drew Beamont with a score that beat his average by almost 9 points. An incredible show Drew. Runner up was Ian Edwards with Mark Reacord taking the Bronze medal. Mark also posted a handicap improvement of 12 targets this year which earned him the prestigious St Jude’s award as our most improved shot. Well done again Mark.
Top visitor was Bob Murray who’s score of 61 was just a single target behind the Dodgers winning score. Well shot Bob. The Coffin Dodgers own Serendipity award went to David Gee who who monitored, distributed, recovered and re-cycled each of the weekly medals, a job that has always been considered an impossible task, thanks Dave.
The staff Serendipity award was awarded to Shane who has had a difficult and probably stressful 2024 but has not allowed this to compromise his wish to give us an interesting but shootable set of targets each week.
A small shooting ground squad at South Worcester with the Scratch top spot being won by Jonathan Skelding with 74 broken targets. Runner up was Tony Gray just 3 targets behind. John Griffiths was third with 54 pulverised targets. Tony took the Handicap top spot just 6 hundredths of a target above Jonathan in second place, John G was just a point and a half behind in third place.
Our next shoot will be the last one held at Butlers It takes place on the 31st of December, and starts after 10.00am as usual. After shooting, we have all been asked to return our Claymate cards to reception and then enjoy the food and refreshments that Ian will be providing after the shoot.
Although retiring from providing shoots, Ian will still be providing a gun service and repair facility. I’ll provide contact details later. Enjoy your retirement Ian.
Once again, a big thank you to Shane who has applied for and is now awaiting the go-ahead to re-open the old Forehill ground. We wish him the best of luck and I’m sure he will get a lot of support from our weekend shooters.
A show of hands last week suggested our next CDA shoot should be at South Worcester, at Upton on Severn on the 8th of January 2025. (Postcode WR8 0AX). .Clays currently cost £36.00/100. Shooting starts at 10am and finishes at 4.00pm. Refreshments are availabe and you may shoot as many targets as you are prepered to pay for but do not take the pee and pay for any extra’s you shoot. May l suggest you shoot either 80 or 100 clays. As long as I know, I can rationalise all scores as a percentage. There will be a further update after the New Years eve shoot. Happy new year to you all.
